1970 Premiership Reunion

On Saturday, the 4th of June, our 1970’s C Section Premiership team gathered in Fitzroy to catch up and relive past glories in the Green and Tan.

Going up against Old Carey, the UHS team coached by Col Kinnear produced an incredible last quarter to come out with flag on day. The final scores on the day were 15.10.100 to 8.11.59. The VAFA’s ‘Amateur Footballer’ publication provided the below description of the match:

“Uni. High also put in a powerful last quarter when they added 8 goals to score a run-away win over Old Carey. Uni. High were in trouble early in the game and were scoreless in the first quarter but they hit back in the second term and were only 9 points down at the interval . Their big men started to take control in the third quarter and their forwards were functioning more effectively. They were 4 points behind at the final change but the last term was all U.H.S. and they swamped Old Carey to win by 41 points.”

A good time was had by all at the reunion. You can check out all the photos from the day below!
